Provincial Nominee Programs
PERMANENT RESIDENT
What is a Provincial Nominee Program?
Each province and territory has its own PNP, managed independently from IRCC, to attract workers with the skills, education, and experience needed to contribute to their local economy. If a province nominates you, you can then apply to IRCC for permanent residence.
Most common PNP streams
PNPs are known for changing their requirements frequently. Provinces open and close streams based on labour market needs, adjust point thresholds, and modify eligibility criteria — sometimes with little advance notice.
Skilled workers
Workers in skilled occupations (typically NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) with relevant work experience. Most streams require a valid job offer from a provincial employer.
International graduates
Recent graduates from a recognized post-secondary institution in the province, often with a smoother path to nomination
Entrepreneurs and investors
Individuals who want to start or purchase a business in the province. Requires a business plan, minimum net worth, and a commitment to live and operate in the province.
